I've been pretty busy this week with one client. He moved into a new office space and needed some redecorating due to the horrific paint job that can not be redone. Three offices and one main room, all red. Like, blood red. I refer to it as The Meat Locker, since the carpets are a nice marbly fat color.
Anyway, IKEA came through with their giant picture selection (that is, they have a lot of giant pictures), which is good, since I'm trying to cover entire walls. IKEA also has that nifty As-is Department, where you can buy already assembled furniture with a dent or two at a discount. I picked up a round, laminate-top kitchen table that will be a small conference table for $129.00 (regular price $179.00). I stopped at Michael's and got a six-foot fake ficus tree for one corner. I don't normally endorse the purchase of fake plants, however there is a time and a place (and for $29.99, I couldn't go wrong). Went to the Slumberland Clearance Outlet up on Central to look for a sofa. I've gotten very lucky there in the past, and this week was no exception. I found a great microsuede piece for only $419.00. My only remaining task is to track down four chairs for the conference table. Everything at IKEA was too... IKEA-looking, and the big office supply chains were no help. Still got an ace up my sleeve, though. There's an office furniture store off 280 on University called S.O.S. that has nice things at even nicer prices.
I feel like this is taking me longer than it should, but I guess I am working with The Meat Locker. Finding decor to stifle blood red walls has been no easy task.
