I haven't been going to many shows lately for some reason. I guess it's because there really hasn't been much worth venturing out for, but I did go to Bettie Seveert at The Entry on Monday. I hadn't seen them before, and I really enjoyed the show. What a weird crowd; mostly older, very Anglo. I guess that makes sense, since the band is Dutch and their flava tastes a bit like all my favorite bands from the early 90s. I was totally grooving along, though. They even covered Bright Eyes' "Lover I Don't Have to Love", and executed it rather well.
I went to the show with Vince, who finally said yes to a post-show nightcap. We go to shows pretty regularly, but it seems I'm always the only one who wants to keep the party going. We went over to The Triple Rock, grabbed a cold beer and a hot bartender who was done with his shift, then headed home. The Current played both new Lucero and Vicious Vicious on the short drive back to Northeast, capping off a lovely evening.
So what else is coming up? Beats me. Not one to call the kettle black, I won't say anything about Twin Cities Shows List not having been updated in over a month. There is a bunch of music at A Taste of Minnesota this weekend, not to mention the usual metric assload of food. Then, next weekend is the Basilica Block Party, featuring bands that you'd pretty much expect to see there.
I may head over to A Taste of Minnesota on Sunday evening, but my Friday and Saturday nights will be filled with drunken geekery. CONvergence is this weekend, wahoo! I wonder if my parents know I go to Sci-fi conventions. I suppose they just assumed as much after seeing my first tattoo 8 years ago. Qapla'!
