I just found out about this via Aaron Landry via Smooth Angie D, all via Twitter:
Like an online pub club; instead of meeting at a bar once a week to taste and discuss local microbrews, you fetch the beer on your own and write a short review on the website. Pretty cool.
One idea for Brew52: Post the beers to be reviewed a few weeks in advance, so a weekly trip to the liquor store isn't necessary. I don't drink nearly as much beer as I used to, so if I were to participate, I'd like an advance list so I could go somewhere like St. Anthony Village Liquors or Cost Plus World Market where you can create your own microbrew six packs. This would also eliminate an excess of beer in your fridge, since there will inevitably be beers you don't care for at all.
Okay, in some households there will inevitably be beers you don't care for at all.
Thanks for the post! I just posted the first 6 beers under review on the site. For participants that don't feel like buying a whole six pack just to try one each week, I'm planning on making a run to Surdyks tomorrow night and have people just come and pick up one of each from my place. If you want to join in, let me know!

That's awesome, Rett! This is such a good idea.
I'll hit you up if I decide to participate.

A pub club where you don't go out to the pub and drink together?
Isn't that a little bit like having a "swinging couples" club where everybody just stays home and has sex with their spouses?
Or am I missing something?

Yes, not at all, and yes. The club will meet about once a month. According to the site, the first meetup is at either The Herkimer or Town Hall, TBD.

I'm tempted to try this, but I've already thrown myself into making Galliano drinks, and I'm afraid adding this into the mix might just be another step in my ruinous path toward alcoholism.
What the hell. I'm gonna do it.

So you *do* meet up at pubs and taverns? Then shouldn't your answers have beeen "no, no, and yes"?
That actually sounds a lot more interesting, when you add that important bit of info.
