Happy Valentine's Day & Stuff
Be sure to watch Drinking With Ian tonight, because I'm on it. Cable channel details (which vary by your location) are on the site. I'm told you will also be able to watch it there on the site, sometime tomorrow at the latest.
If you didn't already see it here or here, I'm looking to buy a new bed. I was leaning heavily towards the Sleep Number, but now I might have to check out the Tempur-Pedic. Anybody have any other suggestions?
Random press release: Operation Glass Slipper is accepting donated prom dresses through March 15th. The Anderson Cleaners stores are major drop-off points, and they'll also be offering free dry-cleaning and bagging of the donated dresses. Operation Glass Slipper also accepts shoes, jewelry, wraps and other prom accessories. I'm sure I have a few garters lying around here...
Thumbs down the the Tempur-Pedic for me. We owned one for around 18 months. Gets warm when you sleep on it which was fine during the winter, but tough in the summer. The deal killed was how much it softened after a year, felt more like a water bed at the end. When they are new they give off a chemical odor that takes a while to wear off.

I think the Sunrise Mattress Factory still makes them to order -- that way you can get the fabric covering you want as well as the quality you want. I went that route because I was concerned about chemical out-gassing. Your sister has the sleep number bed.

Ikea-brand circle bed.

We recently bought a Serta- Vera Wang bed at HOM furniture and like it a lot. It's a foam bed but we haven't had any trouble with it being too warm at night and it's really comfortable.

Sleep Number kicks major ass. I bought one. I can sleep on my surgically repaired shoulders for the first time in about a decade. You shan't regret it. End of discussion.

If you do decide to go with the Sleep Number, let me know. One of my clients works for them and she might be able to get you a deal or at least give you some good info.

My parents returned their foam tempur-pedic bed after a month.... they said it was super uncomfortable and smelled really bad. They complained of the thing being too cold? They said it was never soft because it was always cold? They have turned the corner to being always cold old people this year. Good news is they will never come visit me in the "cold time" which is sept- june. Free at last.

One other tip. If you go the Sleep Number route, check out the Comfortaire beds a HOM furniture. Same concept but a better price and a number of them were latex free which can be nice for other "occupants" of your bed. Check out epinions.com for many differing opinions on beds.

love the long black glove / purple cocktail dress combo on DWI. IMO it's not quite as hot as theleopard print with the orchid, but still hot.

My two cents. I HATED the sleep number. I could never find my happy place and spent too many nights buggering about with the remote to hit the right "spot."
Tempurpedic was like Heaven all wrapped up in a Queen sized mattress. HEAVEN I tell you. There's really nothing bad about The Swedish Sleep system... Or anything Swedish, really.

My father has owned a Tempurpedic for years and swears by it, but he has a good mattress pad (doesn't allow allergens in or out), and has said that is very hot to sleep in/on.
I had a friend who sold her sleep number bed after less than a year because she said she and her husband HATED having sex on it. Unless their numbers were synced up (which takes a minute) she said it was uncomfortable and made it difficult to gain leverage. Also, there's a hump down the center of the bed, which she said inevitably ended up in someone's way.

Another thumbs down for the tempurpedic here. The smell of the bed really bothered me, and it wasn't all that comfortable to be honest. I ended up going with the sleep number air bed, and oculdn't be happier for it. :)
