Food Items
- The Northeast Jimmy John's is now open, behind The Quarry in the spot that was vacant forever next to Rosacker's Floral. Now there will be even less parking in miniature lot, but at least we have another food option. Jimmy John's is only open until 9pm, continuing to leave a void of late-night Northeast options that don't include bar fare.
- On a related note, I am still accepting investment offers for my late-night Northeast restaurant concept.
- I survived Day 1 of the State Fair yesterday, despite riding on the Crazy Mouse Coaster. That was the first time, since childhood, I've actually screamed on a ride. The new and vastly improved International Bazaar is pretty cool. The whole thing is completely rebuilt (with fancy new bathrooms!) to make room for more vendor booths, larger walking aisles and a brand new stage. Jakeeno's was occupying the rotating Midtown Global Market booth inside (the MGM fruit booth is still there, just outside the entrance), but I skipped their gorgonzola pear salad in favor of some veggie samosas with cucumber sauce from Holy Land a couple doors down. They're deep fried and, hello, this is the Fair.
- I'm in 5th place for the Chef Mom/Mission Foods recipe contest as of today, but I'm still being whooped pretty badly. Please vote! Click here and enter any email address, then paste my recipe link in your browser and vote away.
I ate at Holy Land Midtown last night - and bought cookies I haven't had since 2005 (jaffa cakes) Yum.
I just voted for your recipe. Good luck!
