I really hope Tammy and Ryan's benefit on Sunday was a success. I was happy to see such a good turnout and I hope those who couldn't make it out were at least able to kick them a couple bucks via the donation button on their website.
I bought a grip of raffle tickets and miraculously made out with 2 $50.00 gift cards from Manhattans, as well as $50.00 in gift certificates from the Imperial Room. I have never won anything from a raffle before. Originally, it was 3 $50.00 in Manhattans gift cards, but I traded one of them with a nice young lady with whom The Mexican and I were sharing cocktail table space. I was having a hard time imagining spending $150.00 on dinner at Manhattans considering the meat-heavy menu, so I went for variety. Plus, 50 bucks at happy hour at the Imperial Room goes a pretty long way.
During their thank you speech at the benefit, Ryan said that you really don't realize how much the little things mean you don't have anything. And Tammy expressed her deepest gratitude to everyone for donating funds at a time when funds are tight for so many of us. To those points, I'd like to add that even the smallest amount is of immense help to Tammy and Ryan, and you can still pitch in because they really do need your help. Just click the donation button on their website to pony up whatever you can spare.
If you're not sure you know Tammy or Ryan personally, look at it this way: What would you do if you were talking to the nicest stranger at the bar and they happened to mention that they just lost everything? That the house they'd been renting burned down and the landlord's homeowners insurance doesn't cover any of the renter's possessions? You'd probably buy that person a drink or three. Well instead of buying that drink, you can pitch in just a little bit and help Tammy and Ryan secure housing, buy clothing and pay for basic needs like chow for their dog, Murphy.
You're an amazing woman. Thank you so much again, Alexis.

It's my pleasure, little lady. There isn't a lot I can do for you, so I'll just do all that I can.
