Reader Mailbag: Still Mourning Blackey's Bakery

Dear Girl Friday,

I head a rumor that a bakery in the area purchased all the recipes from Blackey's. Do you know who it was?

Lyndsey

I remember reading that the Danish pastries are available at Denny's Bakery in Bloomington.

Head no further than Kramarczuk's for the Polish breads, pastries and cookies (including awesome vatrushka).  Not the same recipes as Blackey's, but you won't be disappointed.

Damn, now I'm craving vatrushka.

[Update: Lyndsey emailed me back to confirm that Denny's does indeed use the Danish pastry recipes from the old Blackey's Bakery.]

Does anyone know the easiest way to go back and assign new categories to old posts on TypePad?  This blog desperately needs a "Northeast" category as well as a "Reader Mailbag," but I'd need to go back over almost 4 years of entries.

Comments

It was a while ago, but I remember getting Blackey's type pastries, if not the real deal, at the Midtown Global Market, after Blackey's closed.
