The 78th annual Northeast Parade is today at 6:30pm, with a tailgating party at 4:00pm in the Eastside Food Co-op. The tailgating party features food and drink from neighborhood restaurants, and the parade features... well, parade stuff. I usually go, but I don't think I can make it this time, since I'm meeting Matt Thompson at 5:00pm today for drinks and good discussion. Y'all know Matt, right?
Hey, did anyone notice a devastating lack of stage-diving at the Deftones show on Sunday night? I've seen them play at least half a dozen times and have grown accustomed to Chino Moreno leaping into the crowd at least once every song. Regardless, they rocked.
This is two-fifths of my favorite five. I dare someone to get a photo with all five!

We had a great time at the parade last night. I love getting the glad-hand from all of our state Reps, Council Persons, and one rather famous prospective US Senator. Lovelier still was getting to chit-chat with neighbors we wouldn't otherwise get to meet.
Highlight however had to be my wife trying to trick a vulcan into greasing my face, only to have one tell her, "when you point a finger, there are three pointing back at you" and giving her a giant V on the cheek.
Fun night. Perfect weather.

I believe I've met Matt about two times, and both times I've been struck by how genuinely charming and lovely he was.

I've just been staying at home waiting for something to happen. I just don't have much to say right now, but so it goes. I've basically been doing nothing to speak of, but shrug. Today was a loss. I don't care. That's how it is.
